Cultivating Community through Excellence in Performance
The Person and The Process
I earned my Bachelors of Science degree in Choral Music Education from THE University of Alabama in Tuscaloosa. I grew up in Omaha, Nebraska where essential Midwestern values such as the importance of family, hard work, passion, and excellence were instilled in me at an early age. At Alabama I became obsessed with Nick Saban's "The Process". I must thank him and a few key others from whom I have derived my own version of The Process for my leadership and coaching career. Marvin Latimer Jr., John Ratledge, Andrew Minear, Matthew Myers, Skip Stradtman, Jordan Peterson. Thank you as your influence and principles reach more students and young human beings than the one directly under your own leadership!
An few key components of MY Process
"Consistently sell team in a social media driven, me-first culture - the collective united, not divided." - Nick Saban
"Attitude is to be a champion in everything we do, every choice, decision, everything that we do every day we want to be a champion." - Saban
“Show class, have pride, and display character. If you do, winning takes care of itself.” – Bear Bryant
"The aesthetic experience of making music is like climbing and summitting a mountain, a craveable experience." - Marvin Latimer Jr.
"At no time will anyone fault you for fighting for your students, advocate for your students needs." - Latimer
"Intellect + emotion = sound" - Latimer
"Pursue what is meaningful, not what is expedient." Jordan Peterson
"Compare yourself to who you were yesterday, not to who someone else is today." - Peterson
“Music expresses that which cannot be said and on which it is impossible to be silent”
